Hi all,

So my love for the disco 3 is huge but along with the pick up I now have for work it's just over kill. I love the off road fun and the arm chair feel but I think I want something more fun to drive to work again.

Budget £15,000. Not an m3 as I've played with one of them before for a while. I was thinking rs4 avant as a possibility.

Any thoughts? Must be fun!!!

RS4 is good, accomplished and rapid on all roads and all conditions, but for me not a car I would get up just to go for a drive.

R33 GTR
R32 GTR
E55 AMG
Single Tubbie RX7
Well tuned Saph Cossy
Tidy Escort Cossy
Single Supra
Elise
Evo
Caterham
Older 996
Boxster S on a slightly older plate

Your budget and criteria is pretty much an open book.

Is it even possible to buy an escort cosworth for £15k anymore?

They do come up on occasion, you need the pennies there for a quick buy. On eBay they seem to start at 15k to snag the nostalgia buyers. Always the option of a YB'd Mk1/2 if you keep your eyes peeled too. So many good cars in this price range if you are patient and have the cash in hand.

I'd be looking at TVRs, but mainly because I've always loved them for some reason :D

Tuscan or Cerbera preferably.

Prices seem to be holding or increasing too, so may be a reasonable investment?

EDIT - Scratch that. I misread the OP and thought the pickup was for work and this was a weekend car :o

Unless you're seriously into the retro/car show scene, there are lots of better cars out there for £15k and I can't see why you'd use an Escos as a commuting car?????

And that's coming from someone who has owned one and a Sapphire Cosworth and Scorpio Cosworth.

If you want to commute in something fun, I'd be looking at something reliable - you'd find a nice Honda S2000 for £15k.

Depends what you class as fun... took me 9 cars over 2 years to get an idea of what I liked the most.

Some think high motorway speeds are fun... that bores me... some think fwd vehicles are fun... lol...

I don't like most 4wd cars like scoops and evolution because it's as if they are "too good"... it's so easy to be doing silly speeds on the road and not even get near the limit of grip it's just incredibly boring. Very fast for sure, but no life to it... those cars are only fun off road rallying.

Most fun car I've owned? 220bhp mark 1 mx5... hilarious to drive. I think the stock cars have too little power. But even stock, they're a giggle.

Close second would be Caterham.

RS4, while a good car... is a boring car :p for the similar reason to scoob
