ok, bit of a strange one. Basically, I have a wall mounted samsung 55" tv, under which i used to have a typical media bench set up which concealed a couple of wall plugs.

However, i've now replaced the media bench with a vertical shelving unit which tucks beautifully into the corner of my lounge and houses all my media devices.

The aforementioned plugs are covered with a white desk top which fits perfectly under the tv and blends nicely in with the white wall. Obviously not a perfect solution, but genuinely isn't distracting at all and fits like a glove...and of course does the job of hiding wires/plugs!

HOWEVER :D I've now decided i quite fancy a half decent soundbar. I don't want to wall mount it. So, I need to be able to place it on some sort of sturdy, height adjustable pedestal (i guess) so that i can bring it up to the level of the plug sockets below the TV and hopefully cover them. Does this make sense?

Any thoughts? :)

Typically you'll use the vesa bracket to attach it to your TV, it should be combined TV wall bracket & soundbar bracket.

It might be soundbar specific though. Any reason a soundbar and not 5.1 sound system?

Also white objects in a home cinema is not a good idea.

Buy a new pedestal VESA TV mount and put soundbar underneath? Should cost about 40quid and Google will throw up a load of results.

thanks folks. I'm not really looking in install a shelf there, and i've dabbled with 5.1 / amp systems in the past but honestly that's not what i'm after at the moment for this space. Also, I don't want to have to replace my current vesa mount with another one. Sorry i'm being rather fussy aren't I? ;) I probably need to check out furniture type places...

I think you have to. If you google search your requirements, soundbar/flat screen/wall mount, pretty much combined screen and soundbar mount.
