Spec me something like aperture for a mac

Hi all, well, i have recently seen Aperture from Apple.com and i really like the program but the £270 price mark put me off a bit, soooo.... could someone please spec me a decent photo viewer which is free. I just feel that iPhoto is a bit basic for me and would really like something which can organise things a bit better and possibly process raw images.

Thanks, oh and btw i have a powerbook with an intel duo processor

From what you've all said i'll probably save up for apperture, thanks for all the advice
