hi, I used to build a fair number of pcs some years ago but I have fallen behind on what works best. Im currently looking to build something for some heavy number crunching with roughly a £1k budget. The system will need a lot of ram (6GB+ if possible) and the ram could do with being quite fast as well.
Neither graphics or hard drive space are important although the hard drive speed could do with being quite good as well.
Any advice on this? I was looking at a core 2 duo system with 4 ram slots (2GB in each) but there is quite a range of motherboards to choose from
