Good people of ocuk

I'm travelling this summer to Ireland through England's green and pleasant land we are arriving in England at Folkestone at 11.25 and have to be at Holyhead at 16.00 the following day taking the car of course so can anyone suggest a good place to stop enjoy something and be on time to connect the next afternoon?

We will be 2 adults and a 9 year old

We were thinking of Windsor castle but we did see it two years ago are there any nice hotels or areas on the way perhaps further up.

Would prefer to see London without a car.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Wylfa visitors centre (If it is still going)

I dont know what your 9 year old is like but when I was 9 I couldn't get enough of that sort of stuff! :D

(I still cant if truth be told! )

Liverpool (Beatles-mania)?
Blue Planet in Chester?
Get stranded on Hilbre Island by the tide?
Bidston Observatory?
Conway/Beaumaris Castle?

Chester Zoo was good when I went many years ago but I've heard conflicting stories about it since.

Chester Zoo is excellent ! Took the family there today. However you need a day to do it justice and I think the OP is going to be pushed for time. Folkestone to Holyhead by car is going to be at least 6 hours, so a day is gone just in travelling by the time you include stops, finding overnight Hotel, meals etc.

You want something nearer the endpoint. Conwy or Caenarfon Castles perhaps.

Thanks for all the suggestions although I think with wife and kid in tow fapping is probably not a good idea. ;)

Quite like the safaris/zoo's would be a good day out.

We haven't booked the holyhead - dublin part yet so may even take and extra day somewhere if it looked good.

I believe there is a cool aquarium with a big underwater tunnel on your route through north Wales. Should be able to Google that.
