Hi I am looking at getting a i7 3770k 3.50 ghz with 16 gb ram not sure which yet, Can you give me any ideas on the rest of a gaming spec I already have my case which is a coolermaster stormtrooper my budget is around £1000 thanks.

Well the SSD and blu ray drive I am going to purchase out of my budget so I don't need them included I am looking into the corsair h100 though for cooling though.

Thats a great spec.

The H100 is very expensive for the amount of cooling performance you get. You are better of with a mid-range cooler like this. This will achieve a great overclock and you won't have to listen to the sound of the H100 pump.

I have also heard good things about the 7970 graphics card or would you recommend the GTX 670 and thanks Olivier your a great help.

You'll have to look at reviews, but AFAIK the 670 wins. Its ot a bad card by all means, but the 670 seems to do better, while using less power. The Windforce would be the card to get, alongside the DirectCU TOP, but this one is uber-expensive.

Sorry to gatecrash, I know you have listed the Gigabyte Z77-3DH over the Z77X-3DH (cheaper but does not SLI). I am about to order my self build (post elsewhere) and was going with Z77X. But as am not planning SLI is there any point ? - should I just stick with non SLI version - are there any other benefits (not clear from spec).

Thanks

Haven't looked hard at the specs, the Z77X has more voltage regulations, although both use digi-vrms. More SATA 6GB ports, more USB3 ports, more PCIE slots...

If you don't need all that stuff, then the D3H will do a good job. It has enough voltage regulation for IB overclocking, which sin't that demanding anyway.
