Hey,

My playstation 3 just broke down after having the console from launch. I used it for watching my movies on my downstairs tv.

So instead of a ps3 ive decided to build a computer to watch my movies on etc. However I would like this build to have a blu-ray drive, and for it to be a small home file server therefore kept turned on 24,7 and it needs to be slient. The budget is as low as you can make it.

Thanks!:)

How about the following;

YOUR BASKET
1 x Asus AMD E35M1-M PRO Hudson M1 Integrated Dual Core Zacate 18W APU SATA-600 DDR3 mATX (Fusion) £109.99
1 x Samsung SpinPoint F4 EcoGreen 2TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD204UI) £59.99
1 x LiteOn iHOS104-37 4x BD-ROM Drive / 8x DVD-ROM (Black) - OEM £41.99
1 x Lepa N-Series 400W Power Supply £24.98
1 x Corsair Value 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Low Voltage Dual-Channel Kit £23.98
Total : £272.93 (includes shipping : £10.00).

As for a case, depends on the style you want. If you after an AV Receiver style of case, unfortuantely OcUK don't really have any other the quite expensive Antec ones.

Have a look at Silverstone's range, perhapse something like the Silverstone Grandia GD04B for about £70.

Form Factor: Desktop Micro ATX
Material: Aluminium/ Steel
Front Panel: 1 x Headphone
1 x Mic In
2 x USB 2.0
Drive Bays: 1 x 2.5" Internal
2 x 3.5" Internal
1 x 5.25" External
Fan Bays: 3 x 120mm
2 x 80mm
Fans Included: 3 x 120mm
Dimensions: 440 x 150 x 323 (WxHxD mm)
Colour: Black

Case is on the slightly larger side for HTPC but has plenty of drive bays for home server functions.

Looks good but drop the PSU if you can.

Even though it says 80% efficiency on the tin ... It doesn't work like that on very low output where it's highly inefficient, probably as high as 50%

A zacate build like this could run as high as 30W idle whereas on a pico PSU it would be around 20W - The pico has no fans too
