A spec me thread with a small difference!
My dad is currently looking to get a new car, he had an R reg Seat Alhambra 1.9TD which was used mainly used as a van. He has purchased a 4x4 pickup to replace this, and is now looking for a hatchback or medium estate to use for commuting.
Thought I would see what you guys can come up with!
However he has a long list of criteria the future vehicle needs to meet, without compromising on too many of the below.
The main points are:-
Budget is £4-5K, it must have good MPG (looking for above 42, as that's what the Alhambra got). We have a very steep and long drive (resembles a 4x4 course), so it needs to be able to get up the drive and have solid build quality.
Minimal depreciation, not too expensive to service, reliable, doesn't want low profile tyres due to the drive (has been tried and they fail!)
So far he's been thinking about a 2003 VW golf 1.9 TDi any other suggestions?
