I have nearly finished the workload I currently have and am about to start my next project. I wish to build the ultimate gaming and recording rig with power to edit the gaming footage. Has to be 4k at 60fps. The one rule here is it has to be AMD. Why? Well that's the challenge that has been set. To build the ultimate AMD rig with money no object provided that the money isn't being wasted on parts that have no benefit. Also would like to include a custom loop to this as well to cool cpu and gpu.

What can you guys spec for me? I have some thoughts but want to see what you reckon. This will be built step by step overclocker and benchmarked here on ocuk forums once I've ordered the parts.

So let's see what we can spec guys :)

My sig rig is nothing to do with this project. It is a completely seperate build. An utterly pointless excerise but a fun one at that. Merely to see if AMD can still stack up in today's ever evolving market.

Was looking at maybe 2 or 3 390x GPUs but unsure if maybe fury's might be a better option.

The case will be a custom scratch built case, won't need any screen mouse or keyboard, just simply the components.

They can't.

Nobody with a budget anywhere near around 1k+ should be even thinking about AMD.

The beauty of this is it's a sponsored project so not really my money! I know that Intel would easily be the choice at this sort of level and AMD is an ageing tech, but all Intel vs AMD battles aside (that battle has been over for a long time!), my sponsors kind of know that there throwing money away, but it's a simple test to conduct, CAN it do the job, I think it can, whether it SHOULD or not is another story.

So just some specs and constructive input please guys, Just so we are clear, if this was my money or anybody from the joe public looking to build a rig with this amount of budget I would be advising the same as you...Intel only! This is purely an experiment from an anonymous sponsor that wishes to do this. And i'll be building and testing this and documenting it for them.

Also, I've realised I've commented on editing 4k... Is that the intention or are you planning on just playing in 4k but capturing at 1080?

The biggest issue will be to go with fx 8 series cpu or fx 9 series cpu as the 9 series run very hot and not sure what kinds of overclocks to expect from them.

Haha yh don't I know it. This is going to be extremely insane once built. Not sure what they are going to do with it after they finished benching and testing. Who knows, but it's good that I'm getting to build a high end AMD rig for a change. Even if a little pointless!

They run about as hot and clock as far as an 8350 at the same level. Afaik they're just cherry picked chips with big stock/turbo clocks.

An 8350 @ 5ghz doing video work does chuck out aa HUGE amount of heat though. I didn't need central heating in my living room when I was using mine :D

if money is no object then go source yourself 2 Asus ROG AresIII Gpus.. aprox £1200 each lol.

if you go over 2 way crossfire the amd will struggle. .
