Struggling to really find what I’d need/want so putting it out to the hive mind of ocuk for inspiration.

In the kitchen there’s 2 sections I want under counter lighting in.

One section is 40” then there’s a non linked gap due to the hob and extractor unit, then the main 94” section.

I think I want motion sensed lighting that’d hopefully pick up on entry to the kitchen instead of waving under them, or a single switch/smart/Alexa enabled so I can turn them all on at once despite it being 2 groups.

I'm planning something similar using Home Assistant, and probably going way overboard with it.

It's going to be be very similar to this

This is my design

I can get away with one power supply and LED controller for this as I've got the pelmet in front of the extractor vent.

I've also got another cupboard out of shot that I'm doing, that will need it's own power supply and controller.

My current plan is to go with 12v RGBW strips in an aluminium channel with a diffuser, the strips will above a kettle, toaster and air fryer, I'll probably use IP65 strips because one of the strips will be above a kettle and then use the same ones to ensure consistant colour.

The "fun" bit will be how to trigger the lights and then keep them on when you're in there.
PIR sensors (Aqara P1) are quick to respond but if you're in the room and not moving much they think no ones there and turn off the lights.
You can also get millimeter radar sensors (Aqara FP1), these can detect the slightest movement to keep the lights on, but they can be slow to detect movement initially.
The plan is to use both, the PIR to turn the lights on and the radar to turn them off.
Both the Aqara devices need a hub to work, either an Aqara one or a generic Zigbee hub (i use this one https://www.tubeszb.com/product/cc2...true&sa=false&sbp=false&q=false&category_id=2)

Lewis from Everything Smart Home is (hopefully) going to design and sell a combined PIR and radar sensor.

I've already running Home Assistant with a Zigbee hub, but I reckon the rest of the stuff will come to at least £200

Thanks @nst68 will watch over that later. Not really interested in the upper lights, just under counter really.

Hoping I’d not need to go to £200 but if it’ll last then maybe it’s the right way to go.
