having just got done with a mobo x CPU overhaul, I'm itching to upgrade my exsisting hd4890. As I'm using an ssf case my main priorities are cooling and noise. Looking for a card for gaming (guild wars 2, natural selection 2, bf3)

With so many cards I'm so little confused, thought you guys might help

I game at 1080 and the case is a silverstone sg01. rest of the spec is a 3750k, 8gb samsung green, ocz700w psu and a couple of 260gb ssd's

You have a few options. An overclocked 7850 will over superb performance at 1080p well below your budget.

Away from that around the £240 mark, the 7950 (again while overclocked) offers really good value for money at the high end of the market.

If you want the best card for your budget it has to be the nVidia GTX 670 though.

What resolution do you plan to game at? If it's just 1080p you might be able to save money with a 7850. This card is considered amongst the quietest with decent cooling:

If you wish for a bit more bang, there's also the 7950, again considered one of the quietest:

Some will no doubt recommend the GTX670, but I think the price/performance ratio of the AMD cards in the 150-250 price bracket cannot be ignored.

Been tempted with the 7950, I have the vapour-x currently and it's nice and quiet on idle. What card would you say offers the better cooling to noise trade off? I'm only concerned about noise at idle.

I had to comment on how both me and Rusty said EXACTLY the same thing without seeing what either of us wrote.

Edit: To clarify the ICE Q 7950 we all posted is 28dB at idle, which is equal to my 6850 which is inaudible over my CPU fan

Been having a think about this tonight, and it looks like the HIS 7950 could be a winner, going to leave it till the morning (incase there's a cracking today only offer on)

Thanks again for your help
