Spent a month deciding on a gaming lappy as i sit at a desk looking at 4 screens at work all day was sick of sitting at one at home. Finally decided on the Rock 770 then got cold feet with the doubts over the 8700m GT being up to Dx10 games like Crysis on high settings.

Anyway, i've had enough waiting. I'm a gamer at heart so gaming desktop it is.

I've already got an OCZ GamerXtreme 700w, X-FI Music and Asus Vento 3600.

I'll be selling off my Syncmaster 17" 913n, Lan-Party expert Socket 939, AMD 64 X2 4600+, 2 x XFX Nvidia GForce 6800gs and 2x 512mb Corsair xms3200 platinum. Oh and genuine Windows XP SP2 OEM.

With £1k cash + £250ish for selling stuff my budget will be about £1250 or a tad more.

I'll be looking for Vista, 22"ish LCD, Intel CPU+ Mobo+Memory+ GPU. I'm going for gaming performance here so a good spec for that would great as i'm buying it all today at last. Thanks in advance!

How about this...

Gigabyte GA_P35_DQ6 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

The Dell 20" included above is much better than any 22" screen, due a higher quality panel. Everything else is top notch.

I have the DQ6 and it's a really good motherboard. If not and you plan to go SLI get a EVGA motherboard 680i. But overall that'sa cracking spec I say go for it. Although if you dont plan to overclock get this ram http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-087-OC&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=144

It's basically the same as the crucial ram but it would hold you back if you wanted a very high overclock which you wont really need to as that CPU is very powerfull. But with vista and game's I would get 4GB of ram tbh. Just maksure you stick to 64bit so you can see 4GB of ram as 32Bit is limited to 3GB of ram.

you could have lower latency rambut the limiting factor for an overclock on this wont be the ram tis way u can add another 4gb if you want to

ultra for the win

Excellent guys. Gonna nip out for an hour, come back and order. Always been mid-range gaming due to budget so looking forward to pushing the boat out a bit.

Anyone think there's a winner from what's been suggested so far?

Appriciate the time doing this btw.

Never got to order the other day but going to now.

This is what i've got so far. Don't know much about monitors so could someone suggest the best 20-22" for about £250ish? Feel free to shoot me down with anything i have chosen as it's the most i've spent on an upgrade and want to get the best gaming performance for the price or cheaper if possible.
