What are you not sure about? You effectively have 2x 3700 San Diego chips on one core so it is fast in single cored operation but will excel for multitasking or dual core specific programs. You could choose a dual core Opteron if you want to go for larger overclocks maybe and you do get 2mb L2 cache but otherwise the X2 4400 is a good CPU.

The system will work fine however the 7800GTX is still overpriced for what it is and a X1900XTX will eat it for breakfast(poetic licence slightly but still you get the picture). In fact you could get an X1800XT and it would beat the 7800GTX.

The CPU is good but still pretty expensive and you could get dual core for around the same price.

I don't know too much about the Ram so whether PC4000 is better for overclocking or whether PC3200 with tight timings is better I don't have a clue I'm afraid.

I'd also change the DVDRW for an NEC I think as they are pretty highly thought of.

The case and PSU are matters of personal choice. Thermaltake tend to remind me of slightly cheaper Coolermaster rip-offs but if you like them go for it :)

Could you ask your friend what he has against X2 chips because I don't know of any obvious problems?

Personally, if I was upgrading now or in the future I would be looking at getting a dual core processor. They are the future really and more and more games and programs will make use of them in times to come.

I'm 100% certain that it comes with the adaptor:

Well, you need a wireless router. And then you need a wireless adaptor (usb or pci) for each machine you want to connect to the router. But usually you can connect 4 machines directly to the router with RJ-45 cable.

So, you can have the router sitting next to your main rig connected directly to the 4 port switch on the back of the router (i.e. wired). And then one wireless adaptor for your other machine. OR, you can just have them both wireless, in which case you have to buy two wireless adaptors.

Shopping list:

- Wireless router (choose one that includes Modem/Router/Switch/Firewall)
- One wireless adaptor (usb or pci) (or two if you want both rigs wireless)
- 1 RJ-45 cable, usually supplied with the router (won't need this if boths rigs are wireless)

Thanks a lot !

I know it probably sounds confusing in writing, but look for diagrams. Linksys used to have some great diagrams but I can't find them anymore.

I forgot to say, you will need a network card if you're going to connect your main rig to the router's switch. Most mobos have this port at the back, so have a look.

Oh on the wireless side I reccomend two things :-

1) Belkin - VERY easy to setup :).
2) Make sure it's encripted, reason I say use Belkin is that it makes encription easy to setup. Basically you give any Belkin equipment a password and it generates 4 keys. You then decide which of the 4 you want to use. Use the same password and select the same of the 4 and you don't have to remember/write down keys. Very easy and simple to setup.
