Hi,

Ive been out of the scene for around 8 months...

Need a new rig as I sold my old one as per the Sig...

I have £700 to spend, I will be using it for video editing, photochopping and gaming...

I would like to overclock...

I would like the system to have if possible and if "bang for buck":

1 x q6600 the quad core duo cpu
4 gig Ram
Decent case
a good hsf
a psu
a great gfx card - should i wait for new ones or go with the current 8800's? when are newer models out? either ati or nvidia i dont care...
no monitor, keyboard or mouse required..
preferably 500g hard drive if poss..

id like the system to be quiet and cool also

You wont be able to get a Quad, 4GB of Memory + Vista and a fantastic GPU.

Its not going to happen im afraid. :p

Put that to one side, what res will you be gaming at? :)

okay I get ya....how about 2gb RAM instead??

I game 1280 x 1024....

However I may get a widescreen around xmas time :)

thanks so far, i realise I was being a tad greedy :)

As long as it has that cpu, 2g ram and a top end gpu then the rest I am willing to budge on :)

perhaps I could stretch to £800 if it helps ;-)

Just want / need a rig that will be a good overclocker and give me good performance...more importantly that is better then my old setup in my sig...

the q6600 is a must me thinks :) I could get 2g ram now and then 2g later on...the board should be a good overclocker also, i might just settle for the lian li pc7+ case , GPU I am a bit lost and also PSU...how much juice do you reckon I need to run such a rig??

is the 8800gts sufficient for the res I game at? will it handle games like splinter cell on max settings?

also is the corsair a decent psu?

what do you imagine i can overclock that spec too?

finally, please advise if there is any new tech on its way as you said intel are dropping their prices??
