Hi all, got a new car and want to get a new install going.

I work for myself at the moment and currently don't really take a wage so money is a BIG factor.

I'm also hoping to possibly use some existing parts that i have.

What i have so far:

Nissan 200SX S14a 2 litre turbo :D with standard speakers and headunit throughout.
2 x Vibe QB69 Square 6x9's (No where to place them in my car)
******'s Power Cap (Un used)
Loads of gale 105 speaker cable from my old home cinema setup
Loads of Vibe bass speaker cable (from my old speakers)
Vibe FD4 Fused Distribution block (1x4AWG input and 4 x 8AWG output)
1 x long 0 gauge wire with fuse holder attached
1 x Fusion NV-SW12 (1000wrms) (This is better than the other fusion tat (encounter etc...)
1 x Fusion Powerplant Mono channel 2000W Amplifier
1 x Fusion Powerplant 2 channel 900W Amplifier

So as you can see, i have a fair few bits from existing car builds etc...

I will be making a boot build for the sub and hiding the amps etc...

What i was thinking was to get a 4AWG and run it from the battery to the fused distro block and then out to 2 8AWG wires to go to each amp but i have this 0AWG so would that be better to use? By using the 0AWG, it would render the FD4 useless due to the inputs on it.

I did have some Vibe BlackAir 6's to go into my old car (Brand new) but my cousin being the thieving **** that he is, stole them and i have no way to prove it was him so i need some new speakers too for my doors and for my parcel shelf which NEEDS to be the right size due to the parcel shelf having a metal shelf underneath and i don't fancy cutting and chopping bits up.

As i already have the sub, bass is no major issue, so just want something to give me clarity and obviously ideas on which wire etc... to use whether it be the 0AWG and find a way to split off to the amps or to get a 4AWG and use the FD4 block etc...

So in summary, i need some decent speakers (comps?) specced and ideas on the best way to wire it all up including which wire to use, to use the FD4 and if to use the power cap?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Andy

I've been doing a lot of research into doing a system for my car.

I however just read your post and didn't understand a single word of it.

Obviously I need to do a lot more research! :D

Sorry matey, just got back from helping my brother move from Northern Ireland to Kent, and the M1 traffic jam at 1am hasn't helped.

Basically need to know whether i would be best off using the 0AWG wire and distributing it somehow to the 2 amps or to get a 4AWG and use the distribution block i already have and split off to 8AWG.

Also, need some speakers recommended.

Thanks,

Andy

Can you not just get something decent to upgrade the standard speaker? Normally they wont have any decent bass, but seeing as you have a boot build or nearly have one this shouldn't be a problem.
I would stick with your 4AWG not much point going to 0AWG imo. Might as well make use of the kit you have.

I was thinking that the 0AWG may be a tad overkill? I'm assuming your post says the same?

Think it's worth using the powercap? My battery is quite beefy, but i see it would be no harm as i already have it, and it's a bit "bling" too.

Any idea on the best place to buy the 4AWG cable? So many brands etc... Don't want to spend a fortune on this.

Sorry yes i thought you said you had 4AWG but another quick read tells me not lol. 4AWG you could probably get from most decent motor factors IE motor world, halfords.
Never used a power cap myself but if you have one why not use it, there made for a reason i guess.

If you are going to do an audio install in an S14 here are my suggestions:

- Use 10" subs in the rear quarter cavities (behind the rear passenger arm rests). There is a nice sized hole here which can be sealed up and used for a sub enclosure. I have built a sub box in the boot and the bass doesn't travel between into the cabin well at all (compared to my old hatchback at least). Also the springs in the back seat rattle to **** if you pump the bass up :(.
- Move your battery into the boot. You will be laying a power cable from engine bay to boot anyway and if you don't do it now in 12 months time when you want to install a FMIC your options will be either a half size battery (which are crap) or relocate your main battery. May as well do it now and save yourself the hassle in the future.
- There is a grommit in the top left of the driver footwell perfect for running your cable through
- The shelf above the fuel tank is perfect for a nice amp rack :)
- Sound deaded the tin foil doors!

On a more general note, bin the 6x9s (don't bother with rear speakers at all, it's not like you are going to have anybody on the back seat!), get a decent set of components for the front and get 1 or 2 10" subs for the bass. Can't comment on the amps you have really as have no experience with Fusion, wouldn't buy them myself (I am an Audison fanboy) but if you have them already then may as well make use :). Don't bother with the cap as they are a waste of time..
