I finally got my insurance to pay me out to the value of £500

So im after a mobo, cpu, gfx, case + psu

I've had a quick look around and come up with this lot.

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice 90nm (Socket 939)
Antec SLK3800BUK Black Quiet Midi Tower Case - 400W SmartPower PSU
Leadtek GeForce 7800GT 256MB GDDR3 VIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express)
DFI LanParty UT NF4 Ultra-D (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard

Subtotal £400.80
Shipping (City Link Parcel Next Day (Delivered Mon-Fri)) £9.95
VAT £71.89
Total £482.64

Can anyone improve on it or advice me please

Myself i wouldnt settle no lower than an AMD athlon 3500+ venice

I've had recent advice that a venice is packed with a 512MB cache, the san diego has the larger 1MB cache but thats only what i'm aiming for. Are there any other things apart from what listed you are after?

just had another quick look, and ive desided on the

with that that put me just over the £500 mark, but whats £10

The system there looks fine but OEM means original equipment manufacturer and you get nothing beyond the bare part e.g. the CPU only here and 1 year instead of 3 warranty. So you will still need a CPU cooler however this does give you the chance of getting a good one to make sure you can overclock well

Perhaps get a cheaper motherboard, and spend the extra on the retail version, and save a few bob?

can you recommend a cheaper mobo, but it must have audio on it (nf4)

You could try the Asus Nforce4 ultra which is a good solid motherboard at a good price. It won't overclock as well as the DFI but should offer some potential.

Get the Asus A8N-E nForce4 Ultra (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard (MB-088-AS) & AMD Athlon 64 3700+ Retail instead & you will be fine.

Should be good.
