Had a little bit of money come to me... so time for a new computer in time for BF3 and MW3!

£1000 inc VAT to spend,

got Mouse/Keyboard/OS/Monitor... go mental! Specifically for gaming. :) Also, -£10 for a Boogie mouse mat thing... I can see a £1000 spec a few posts down... however that includes a monitor and W7!

Anything I haven't answered just ask...

could get below the £1k by going for the 64gb ssd if needs be, or drop the psu to a 650w version if you dont think your going to sli the 580gtx, or drop the 580 to a 6970.

You could shave some money off that by getting a cheaper cooler or only getting 4 Gig ram.

Thanks for the quick replies already! Some really nice specs there for me to look at. stulid, any chance you could get a 120GB SSD in to that spec at all?

Would the GPU from the 1st spec you supplied be much of an improvement over the one in the 2nd spec?

Its got slightly faster core/ram speeds/custom cooler and an extra free game.

The increase in clock speeds are not much (in fact they will be almost unnoticeable I should imagine), the extra game maybe worth something to you

Wish people would stop putting, spec me a pc for bf3, the game is crap.

I didn't specifically mean just for BF3 and MW3. I've actually heard many bad things about it, but I loved playing BF2, before playing that I heard many many bad things about it. But hey-ho, everyone has their own preference!

Agreed it is absolute rubbish, also graphically its nothing mindblowing either.

If anything consoles still have a lot a life left in them its not like there is a night and day difference i.e. Wii graphics.

Crysis 1 on Xbox 360 proved that fact.

Anyway... off slating BF3, and back to the subject in hand... a computer for under £1000 which will let me play Minesweeper in HD please.

Well, you have loads of options. But generally speaking, you will be looking at a 560ti 2GB / 6950 2GB. Maybe a 580 without the SSD.

This is very similar to my future build.

Case also available in grey/black. Cooler out of stock, but there are equivalent coolers available.

Post a build you like and we can tweak it.

I think I'd rather have a black case. Not bothered about lights etc on it. Just something which will perform with games for the near future :)
