Righty, upgrade time has come early, and Im contemplating the upgrade to a Devils Canyon / Z97, along with a GTX980, and 16Gb of Ram, I'd also like to take the opportunity to throw in a SSD /or M.2 drive for the O/S. The motherboard should also be able to support a minimum of 6 additional SATA drives in addition to the boot drive ( SSD / .M2 ).

This PC will be mostly used for gaming, pretty much everything, on a single screen @ 1080p, occasionally using 3DVision. It will also be used for some serious photoshop processing, a little bit of modelling using Blender, and other general work usage.

I'm struggling to decide on which of the Motherboards will be suitable for the above components, so suggestions here are most welcome.. and if you'd like to spec the rest of the build, that'd be great too.

The components I intend to buy within the next few days are as follows :

CPU -- ( Intel Core i7-4790K 4.00GHz (Devil's Canyon)
Motherboard --
GPU -- Nvidia GTX980
RAM -- 16Gb DDR3
.M2 / SSD -- 240Gb ish, enough for the O/S , apps, and the odd game..

Total budget for all of the above £1200ish. The rest of the build will be salvaged from my existing machine.

Thanks for any help.

I'd say something like this:

YOUR BASKET
1 x EPIC BUNDLE: Intel 4790K, Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 7, Kingston 16GB 2400MHz Kit, Superflower 750W PSU & FREE STUFF!! **£50 SAVING** £557.98
2 x Palit GeForce GTX 970 JetStream 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £269.99 (£539.98)
1 x Crucial MX100 256GB SATA 2.5” 7mm SSD + 9.5mm Adapter (CT256MX100SSD1) £79.99
Total : £1,187.54 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Plus whatever big case to hold all the storage.

SLI 970 will be better value for money and much faster than a single 980.
