Following on from the spec me a pump thread, im going for a new W/C setup.
My Bigwater 745 is noisey. I want to cool just my E6600 effectively, one 120.2 rad is fine and price wise anything upto £100. Any thoughts?

D-TEK Fuzion CPU Block
Thermochill 120.2 (.3 if you have a full tower case and want to cool more than the cpu)
Bay Resevoir
D5 Vario pump
Masterkleer tubing (doesnt have any TYGON labled on the sides) (6ft+ depending on the amount of looks, type of case and setup)
Yate Loon Fans (depending on which rad you get)

If you have any questions ask people will help out, btw this is my personal opinion of a spec others may vary.

I'd personally go with a DDCultra pump and a Swiftech Microres reservoir :)
Seen many people having issues bleeding the loop with a bay res.

Dont see any problem really, well not for me atleast have 120.2 mounted on the back all i have to do is tilt the case.

I've just seen people complaining that with some bay res' that they are really hard to bleed the small bubbles from.
With the microres at the top of my case I just filled the loop and left it on 10 minutes it it was fine :)

Bay reservoirs are crap, avoid.

This coming from someone who has used both a bayres and a MCRES Micro from Swiftech.

The Swiftech was better in every single way imaginable.

Ignoring the sideline about whether or not Bayres' are a good thing....

The £100 budget - is that for a complete new system? Or to upgrade what you already have? In which case - what do you have currently?

[Edit - just noticed you're the bigwater pump person.]

Thermochill PA120.2 and 3/8" barbs+Laing DDC 10W. That's your £100, but you'll massively quieten the system down and the bigger radiator will improve your temperatures. After that I'd spend £40 on a D-Tek FuZion block and then I don't really see where else you can get a major improvement.

I never had any problems with my Bay res. What makes you say that Mekrel?

Some bay reservoirs are better than others, but I personally wouldn't ever touch one again.

1) A lot of the bay reservoirs are made by one company who OEM for the likes of DangerDen etc and these reservoirs are prone to leaking. A lot of places that sell them now warn about certain additive being used as they believe it to be the reason why the glue weakens.

2) Mainly DangerDen again, but the fill hole is created by having another layer of acrylic to be threaded for the cap. Air rises to the surface, and always ends up getting trapped around this threaded piece.

3) If your pump is very close (tubing wise) to the reservoir, then it will suck said air in point 2 back into the loop.

4) They slosh, because they're so shallow.

It was as clear as night and day, how good the Swiftech MCRES over the DD bay reservoir I had.

Can anyone make me a cart with a good combo i cant seem to piece everything together. OCUK seem to do such a poor W/C selection.

Alphacool Laing DDC-Pump 12V Pro!?
Swiftech MCP350 12 VDC Pump!?

are they the same? do i need a top?!

You will need a cpu block or gpu depending on what you want to cool, some hosing (masterkleer, tygon, xspc, DD) you will also need hose clips for holding down the hose against the barb, depending on the hose size sometimes these arent needed but recommended.

deironised water, can be bought anywhere but you also need anti corrosion adittives to stop corrosion and algae growth. Barbs, depending on the hosing size i recommend 1/2" hosing as its the most popular and best looking these days.

and some common sense, find out the correct order, as long as the res is before the pump you will be good but i recommend.

Res > Pump > CPU > Rad > Res

Any other questions feel free to ask, theirs plenty of people on here who watercool.

:edit: Most pumps are good these days, i recommend

Laing D5 Vario
Laing DDC (depending on how many loops) Ultra

i use the D5 and its a good pump

CPU block and Feiser F1 coolant ive already got. 3/8 tubing i will get off ebay, OCUK dont do it. Basically im upgrading a system i already have because its too noisey. Yeah ive heard good stuff about them pumps, thanks for your help m8 :)

Never heard of De-ironised myself. :p

-------

Pump...18w DDC with Alphacool top, although all aftermarket tops are pretty good. DD D4/D5 pump is also very good. A little bigger but more reliable.

I'm not so sure about the Laing D5 Vario pump as the one I have is distinctly whiney at anything over the lowest speed setting. The DDC's are all absolutely silent though.

No they don't but you can get G3/8 barbs for them (barbs with O-Ring) which were released by Thermochill earlier this year as previously you had to seal with teflon tape.
