Looking for a set of wireless speakers for gaming as well as movies,
preferably 5.1 and above
I dont want to spend a large amount, but there is no budget per-se
So what speakers do you guys recommend for price/performance?

No such thing as wireless speakers

a) The batteries will be battery powered, that means recharging or replacing batteries often. Expensive, and annoying. Distortion will occur once the batteries start running down.
b) or you'll need a ac line to each speaker. Not wireless then, and in fact major pain in the bum, as you need a ac outlet for every speaker.

Just buy standard speakers and route flat speaker cable around.
And what is your exact budget. I would recommend spending at least £600, ideally £800 on a 5.1 speaker system (no amplifier, so will require a av amp)

No. If using as a music/films sound system you want quality. £800 for 5.1 system is pretty cheap.

A sat sub system you linked to won't have great stereo performance. I've used satellite speakers (left right cost £800) plus a £600 subwoofer and nothing brilliant, the usual problem with sat-sub configurations.

Is there any specific reason why you need to go wireless? Wireless speakers still require power, which means you'll need batteries - which also means they won't sound very good.

Something you might want to think about is getting a budget amp and stereo speakers. Obviously, the more speakers you want - i.e. 7.1, the cheaper each individual component will be in your system, and the quality suffers.

£100 active 5.1= utter pap. Wireless as well, fit for the skip.
Save up your money, or just go into stereo. £100 should get you acceptable quality active 2.0 speakers.

no real reason other than convinience of not having to run wires around the room
