Asus P5B Deluxe
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-150-AS&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=565
why: because i like it :D can set the FSB and RAM speed seperately, wireless internet, easy to install the case's buttons with their thingymajig they give with the mobo

OCZ 2GB RAM
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-072-OC&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=813
why: because it has C4 timings, if you overclock the ram and loosen the timings you'll still have C5 most likely, which is still good

Tuniq Tower 120

why: because you can change the 120mm fan, and it's the best performing apparently :-D

I would definately remove the stock heatsink, they are rubbish - high temperatures and loads of noise. I would go for a different selection of hardware:

Gigabyte DS3 - This is a popular board for overclockers are offers good value for money and performance.

GeIL PC6400 DD2 2GB kit - Ultra low latency and highly overclockable!

Noctua NH-U12F - Bought one of these recently for my core 2 duo, they are highly rated by magazines and websites (have a look on google) yet not many have tried it or rate it. I have extremely low temperatures and the cooler is wisper quiet!

I went for the DS4 in the end as it supports firewire unlike the DS3 (I think). I notice the DS3P does have firewire though. Also has the 8 SATA ports in case you want to fill your case with drives :p

I also bought the Noctua and the 2Gb OCZ 6400 Ram which works great. Get 28 degrees at stock with that cooler.

looks like the
GeIL i think it is
Noctua NH-U12F looks good on the temp side
still not sure on the m/b
will read up on the 1,s posted thanks guys

The 650i chipset has the advantage of being able to run the FSB faster than the RAM, the P965 chipset boards (DS3/4, P5B) can't do this, although they are great boards.

Furnace and Mishima make great recommendations, can't go wrong with their suggestions.

I would second the geil ram. Brilliant stuff. (a mate has it). Works perfectly and is brilliant for overclocking.

The tunq tower is on this week only @ £29. Looks good value.

You cant strech your budget to a 680i? Will be really future proof then ;)

1333fsb, will provide a great route for upgrading to quad core later.

just my 2 penny of thought

Agreed.

Not necessary, the 650i chipset does quad core and 1333 as well. It is 90% same as the 680i, and a lot cheaper (and I have a 680i).

after a lot of reading and working out the money i went for this

BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 320MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI

Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.86GHz (1066FSB)

Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-6400 Dual Channel Platinum Revision 2 XTC Series DDR2

Tuniq Tower 120 CPU Cooler

Antec Nine Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case

thanks to the peeps who helped me out

Definately, going to be well impressed with that. You should have gone for the Noctua though!! Everyone spec's the TT, the Noctua is much better and is different.

Fan- boy LOL ;)

Saying that, your temps do tell a convincing story. 6300 temps on a 6600

i read the Review,s on the heatsinks and thay made me make my mind up
as long as it keeps things cool im happy
as long as it runs graw and ut2k7 im very happy :D

hehe! well I just feel that its the underdog and its an alternative solution from the norm. Everyone seems to be TT mad. The few people I know with the Noctua have insane temps, the reviews on google show that too! :)
