Hi,

My first ever spec me thread and my first thread here.

We have between 350-400 maybe a bit more for a DSLR camera as i am doing a fair bit of traveling so want to take some good pictures.

What is the best camera for my monies?

so far i have been considering the 1000D, 450D, 400D or D60

i had a play with a 450D in a shop today and liked how it felt etc. but its a bit more expensive than some of the others in my list.

Any help appreciated.

have you considered going for second hand?

youll get much more for your money

also its not just the body you need but mabye lenses, flash, tripod, bag etc....

I am looking for a new camera as i like to have the back up of a garuntee and also the possibility of buying acidental damage and theft insurance as i am clumsy!

whats the difference between the 400D and the 1000D, they are priced practically the same.

Get accidental damage and theft cover from your household insurance.

the 1000D is a newer model, the 400D has be superseded by the 450D and therefore had dropped in price. Other than that I don't know a lot about them so which one is better is for somebody else to answer

OK,

its now between the D60 or the 450D?

I am reading mixed reviews and cant decide, the 450D is £429 and the D60 is £409 so not much in it.

just bought a 450D with standard 18-55mm and also an additonal 70-300mm lens.

waiting for it to charge, seems like days...

I've just got a second hand 350D for £200 including a 15-55mm lens and also got a Tamron 70-300mm lens for £80 second hand from a camera shop.

Both are in fantastic condition and take amazing photographs.
