Spec me

I've had my Hewlett Packard tower for 2 years now, it's served me well as a good work horse, but am looking to get back in the game of building my oen computer again...

I've a £450 budget, I'm willing to have a drive down to OcUK to collect the hardware and make it a day out,

Intel only guys...no need for an OS or monitor, keyboard or mouse..

Work away..

It would help if you would give some idea of what you itend to do on the PC.

Such as light gaming, or heavy gaming as the largest chunk of this cost will be the GPU and a PSU powerful enough to power the GPU.

Aye, as Anth says what kind of things do you plan to do with the PC? Gaming, Photoshop, CAD, office apps, video encoding?

You say intel only, is there any particular reason for this? At this kind of budget range AMD is currently almost always a better deal.

If you can spend a bit more, then getting this CPU instead would give you a bit more speed in multi-threaded apps.

i thought you said intel only?! for that budget i'd go for AMD also.

Yes, the X2 245 should handily beat a 2.2Ghz 65nm core 2 duo. Here is a review where it beats a 2.7GHz E5400 45nm CPU.
