Spec me

Been out of the laptop game for a while now so need some help in finding what I want

i3, 4gb DDR3, decent resolution (1366 x768 on ~13", more on ~15"), decent battery life

I don't care about optical drives

But I do want something that is fairly cheap, don't care if it something I have to buy new or if it an existing model where used prices are sensible.

Actually, I think I should go for a Sandybridge laptop ... except, why the hell are almost none available in UK? The chips have been out for a month now and yet only ones I can find are Dells with the i3 Sandy, and some expensive i5 Sandys.

Watching 1080p h264, doing some CAD work

Which is why I feel that a Sandybridge system with the improved onboard gfx would be good

But the only things for sale seem to be the Dells, where are all the other Sandy laptops?!?
I just don't see the point of paying £350-400 or so for an old i3, when Sandy systems should be in the £450 range (if Dell price theirs at 500)

Sucks, doesn't it. Looking like they are just waiting to clear the old stock before bringing yet another upgrade. They're still selling old Core Duos.

It's nothing short of retarded, there are more Core 2 laptops for sale than there are old i3 things, and i3 has been about for a year now!
