The time has come. I need a new car.

Traditionally I have always had pretty standard boring cars. My intention was to stretch myself and go for a 350z. However from January I will have to work out of a different office for work so will need to travel further each day. A 350z will just cost me too much in fuel!

So here's the important info.

I have 6kish to spend.

Currently travel 8 miles to work and back so 16 mile round trip each day.

From Jan will be travelling 23 miles to work and then back. So 46 mile round trip.

Annual mileage will be 14,000. Mostly motorways/A roads. I'm guessing with that mileage I should be sticking to petrol?

I'm currently thinking a Seat Leon Cupra FR but open to suggestions? :)

The Leon has a nice drivetrain but a really, really nasty interior. Still, if you can get over that they're good value.

Are you certain about the fuel issue? Unless you're sitting in traffic the 350z shouldn't be all that bad tbh, certainly not miles worse than another 200bhp+ car. Especially if it's something you've always wanted to own.

In way of alternatives the z4 3.0 might be a little better on fuel overall, certainly should be better on a run by a few mpg if it really matters

You might be right. Maybe I should get something more sensible

Although Parkers lists avg. MPG at 35 so that's pretty reasonable. Honest John gives a similar figure.

In the same conditions you'll get 35mpg in a 2.0t you should be able to get high 20's maybe 30 in the Nissan - that's more what I was getting at

Suggesting the 350z Im guessing yer after something less common?

Mazda 3 mps
Mazda 6 mps
If you've considered Leons what about a skoda VRS or similar?
Older Insignia?

I'm not sure if you'll be able to grab somethign powered by one of those 1.4TFSI/TSI engines in them but I enjoyed my brothers mates polo thing he had had some poke and cracking economy from what I saw
