Spec me

Finally passed my CISSP exam so have my spare time back again for MTB and gaming. I want to upgrade my ageing PC. I will be looking to play games like BF4, The Witcher 3, Far Cry 4 and Fallout 4. I will have a budget of ~£1000 but am flexible.

Is it worth waiting for Intel to launch their new CPUs first?

This is my current spec PC:

Corsair RM Series RM 850 '80+ Gold' 850W Power Supply
Corsair XMS3 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
MSI P67A-GD65 Intel P67
i7-3770K
Intel 180GB 520 SSD
Asus VG278HE 27-inch @1920x1080

Hi,

You dont actually need to upgrade that.

Overclock that CPU (many guides on the internet) and add a fat heatsink.

How much ram do you have? it says 8gb but in brackets 4x4 which is 16.. Do you have 16 mate?

I have a Corsair H50 running on it currently. The CPU was overclocked using the OC Genie built into the mobo but I found BF4 kept crashing.

Thats a guide for that board but wit h a 2500K, yours will be the same.

You should look at buying other things such as keyboard+mouse etc or maybe a bigger SSD?

I originally had a 2500K before my last upgrade. I have no issues overclocking the CPU. I think i even went as far as lapping it when i first got it. I just removed it when i started playing BF4. Might be worth putting it back.

I should have a spare Corsair SSD soon which I can dump all my Steam games on.

I do have an archaic Dell keyboard which needs replacing

I re-enabled my OC again with the OCGenie and tweaked my settings in CCC. I can run TW3 on ultra and it runs fine.
