Hi all,

Could do with some guidance on a spec for gaming and general work/design

Got monitor, kb + mouse, monitor, OS, HDD etc

Just need the following

  • CPU
  • AIO Cooler
  • RAM
  • Mobo (Micro-ATX)
  • Case
  • PSU

Don't really have a budget per-say but I don't want to go over the top for the sake of going over the top, i5 will probably do me.
Appreciated.

What you could do with, is a thread asking what could be wrong with your probably perfectly good PC ;)

What do you game on? 1080,1440, super wide, 4k?

Superwide 1080p with additional external 1920x1080 for documents/code.

I'll probably end up grabbing a GPU off the MM as I resent paying ludicrous RRP when they drop so hard.

You know full well I've lost all patience and confidence. I think it's the RAM but why spend more on DDR3 and it end up being the board - tried finding an 1155 board and it's a ballache :p

Why spend £30 on some RAM or £30 on a second hand motherboard when I could spend £500 on a new core system which will perform about the same as what I have! ;) :p

BRB buying a new car cos one of my tyres keeps going flat... :D

Seeing hard drives disappear and windows freezing, I'd probably relate that more to selling a car that doesn't turn over every other day, sure it could be HT leads but I honestly don't have time for stability issues.

Though in your case its probably more like a blown fuse somewhere that you can't be arsed to find and have decided to trade it in instead. ;)
