spec my a CCTV setup

Hi all,

Didnt think i would neeed to bother with this where i live but it seems i do. In between 5pm last night and 1pm today someone has taken a screwdriver/key/other sharp object and put a nice long scratch right down the back of the g/fs golf.

It was on the drive but it seems someone has gone past and just scratched the hell out of it, cant think of anyone that could have done. I know certain people are often walking past but not sure if they would do it. Tonight i am putting my old golf on the end of the drive with a nice note in the window telling them exactly what i think of them! Setting the camcorder up in an upstaris window and i hope they will do it again so i can find out who did it. Dont care if the old one gets scratched as i can spray that myself. The current bill is standing at £279 to get the g/fs repaired!

I want a CCTV system, preferably 2 at the front and one round the back, wouldnt mind one that moves around and can be accessed through the web, they all must have excellent video quality and night vision capabilities!

Any suggestions on setups, makes, companies that could do it are gratefully received!

Put a fence up around your house and get a few Staffordshire Bull Terriers.

No one will dare set foot on your property agian.

Cant put up a fence, our street has an open plan policy at the front of the house!

If you leave a note and it can be seen by the camera then the vandal can say they were provoked or something stupid in defence, so make sure the camera doesn't pick it up.

It wont be seen, the camera will be looking from the house into the road, the car will be parked facing the house with its back end towards the road!

A mate of mine has had loads of trouble from local chavs. You know the type of trouble, scratched cars, broken windows, threatening behaviour and the sort. Well, he installed a CCTV system and caught the little darlings in the act. However, the police refused to do anything because his CCTV cameras can be moved remotely and so fall under the Data Protection Act.

I don't know if this is still true, or if it was down to the police being clueless, but apparently static cameras aren't covered.

yeah, ive heard similar. Thats why i want a static one on the front and also, a remote one.
