So here's the thing, i have this love hate relation with RPG's whenever i see some of the most popular ones talked about like Skyrim for example i think that look's like an amazing game that i'd like to get 'lost' in and play for hours but the reality is i never spend more than an hour before i just give and go play something else.

This has been the case since Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana back in the Snes days, i see all these RPG's that look great (own a few of them) but can never get into them.

What would be a good/easy entry level RPG to start off with that might get me started?

Maybe it's just not a genre for me i don't know.

What consoles?

Try Mass Effect if you have not already, it's pretty much a basic entry level RPG with more of an action element to it, but it's pretty damn good.

Go back in time a little and get hold of Knights of the Old Republic too :)

I can't stand the popular western RPGs. I really can't get into Skyrim or Fallout etc. I only play it for about an hour then give up.

JRPGs on the other hand, I find so much more gripping. The best one I've played recently is Ni No Kuni. Its not too difficult but there is a challenge. Its a ps3 exclusive though.

On the Xbox there's Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon or Final Fantasy. There are more but these are my favourites/I can remember their names! LO is challenging and kinda old style. BD is probably the easiest to get into.

FF7 on PSN or PC

/end thread :p

Mass Effect is a fine choice, Dragon Age is also very good. Depends what type of RPG you want to have a go at tbh.

What consoles?

Across all platforms. I've got Ni No Kuni Wizards Edition still sealed and have been debating whether to open it or not over the past few weeks (im a game collector as well you see).

The last RPG i played i think was Fallout 3, started off promising then i just became a bit overwhelmed with what to do.:o

Demon's Souls. Just completed it (54 hours). Totally gripping and challenging. It's not turn based or anything more of an action adventure RPG. If you like things with Knights and dragons and sorcery then go for it.

MagnaCarta 2 if you can get hold of it. One of the only games i've ever played that I wish I could erase and go back through it, it was that good.

Fallout 3. The modern (well, futuristic) theme might interest you more. No elves, no magic, But plenty of guns and levelling up. I put it just behind Half-Life 2.

Oh and if you do get FL3, you must get the GOTY year. You need the DLC
