I was given a budget of around £350 for motherboard CPU memory and GPU hard disk and new power supply. He already has the other components like a DVD burner etc.
It will be used by all the family so some games, homework, internet use mainly. Replacing a P4 1.8GHz machine
What do you think. Which platform to go for he could afford a better graphics card with skt754, but is older tech.
AM2 is new how stable is it? How long will you be able to buy s939 CPU's if he decides to upgrade in the future. Surley it will be more than a year?
Any suggestions are welcome. It doesn't have to be AMD but I know nothing about Intel systems.
