I've around £600 to spend on a new box, it'll be overclocked and driving a SM226BW 22inch LCD display. Most likely I'll be using Windows XP, but Vista might come into the equation at some point.

My initial thoughts are:

Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.80GHz (800FSB) - Retail £78.71
Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLi nForce 650 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £79.89
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC5300 667MHz Value DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB5300DC) £82.24
EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS SuperClocked 320MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £211.49
Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-520HXUK) £70.49

Total: £522.82

Anyone with some suggestions? I want this on air and reasonably quiet, my last 3 machines have had high speed deltas, but I'm looking for something that doesn't sound like a hoover :)

can't really fault the components so far.

Just need to look at your cooling really. I bought a Coolermaster TX which is virtually silent but don't know how it compares really to other better known makes such as Zalman. The 7700 my mate bought seemed pretty loud to me though. There are plenty of virtually silent 12cm case fans that will help. The one in my case is barely audible at low settings.
