Hi, somehow my brother has managed to bend the pins in the CPU socket whilst trying to install an i5 3570. I haven't seen it to confirm but its sounding like he has. So, that has brought about need to get a new motherboard and probably a new CPU. Cheapest option would be to find a new Z77 motherboard. But my brother now wants to upgrade.
Current specs are:
Asus Maximus V Gene
i3 3225
8GB Avexir Core Red DDR3
Sapphire 270 graphics card. I don't know which one as he bought that a few months ago and installed it himself
Enermax Modu 82+ 425W PSU
Crucial MX100 512GB SSD
Lian Li PC-A17
So, he's going to need a new CPU and motherboard. Also going to swap out the PSU as its getting on a bit. I've been looking at this bundle: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-006-GI&groupid=701&catid=6
PSU wise I was thinking either EVGA, Superflower or Seasonic. Probably the EVGA GS 550 or 650W. He's probably going to upgrade the graphics card at some point in the near future. Would the 550W be enough or should I go for the 650W?
Just wondering if they would be ok? He mainly uses it for gaming.
