Asus A8N-E nForce4 Ultra PCI-Express Motherboard (MB-088-AS) £72.79

Needs to add in deliverywhich might take him slightly over, as will the ram when it goes up after promotion ends. As there is no mention of SLI i left this out if he wants the option for future then drop ram to 1Gb to fund the SLI board, mine is the Epox EP-9NPA+ SLi . But all the Epox's are out. :( otherwise i would have put one of their boards in.

This isn't that different from the specification above but it is using the X1800XL which is apparantly the better card at stock and normally overclocks better than the 7800gt as well so unless there is a specific reason for a 7800gt then I'd suggest the X1800XL. However as deadeyedic30 points out your friend would need to be quick as the offers change tommorow.

How about the Gigabyte K8N SLi nForce4 SLi (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard, its an SLI mobo and is pretty cheap, don't see many posts on Gigabyte good or bad. And as the semi pro waster said the HIS Excalibur ATI Radeon X1800 XL 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-042-HT) is probably a better card.
