Dad's looking for something to use for word processing and internet usage. He also flies, which means that he needs something which can handle some pretty demanding maps, hence the Phenom II. How does this look for him? He originally wanted a quad core, and I managed to talk him down saying that it was a waste of money, but we compromised a tri-core; don't think I could talk him down to an e5300 though.

His main consideration is quiet; how is the Antec Solo case in that regard? I've always heard very good things. Can anyone recommend a case at a lower price which is also quiet, and doesn't look too "techy"?!

Is there a reasonably quiet, low budget CPU cooler for the socket as well?

Cheers, looking to order by the end of the day!

Good shouts; does the Antec 300 have any big blue LEDs or anything? He's after something that will sit under the desk without looking out of place in his office.

He also won't be overclocking, so getting a £30 CPU cooler seems a little OTT...any suggestions for a cheaper one, around £15 or so?

The antec 300 doesn't have any LEDs - its a very understated case. If you add 2 front fans and control them using the zalman fan controller it will also be an extremely cool and quiet arrangement.

I have heard many good things about this cooler, should keep everything cool and quiet without breaking the bank.

What do you mean he flies? Flightsim or physical journey?

Just the Power and HDD activity LEDs, and they are quite small. I've not needed to add any additional fans to mine with the two large exhausts pulling quite a bit through the chassis.
