Hey guys,

My friend is looking to get into PC gaming. He has a monitor, and the cost of windows is separate from the £600-£650 budget. He's asked me for help picking parts, but I'd rather ask here so he can get the most out of his budget.

Cheers

I wouldn't spend £50 on a water cooler for a cpu that can't be overclocked personally.

The pallit 970 is a bit cheaper, but the MSI has a better cooler and power delivery for overclocking.

I do also think the build needs a ssd rather than the cheaper bigger mechanical hdd for a better experience in general.

I think an AMD build is completely pointless now. Theres no upgrade paths at all and AM3+ is effectively a dead socket, but athlonxp's first build + SSD would be great
