Evening all,

Can you spec my mate a system mainly for gaming for £700 and pre-built if possible? He's not bothered whether it is AMD or Intel and is looking for the fastest system he can get for the money (this is in the UK, btw).

He's coming from an old system (AMD XP2400, 8800GT, Windows XP) and wants Windows 7 but isn't sure what's the best 'flavour'. Decent sound is also a requirement so either good onboard sound or a dedicated soundcard would be great. Is SSD coming into the equation at this price point or not? Is it necessary or worth it?

Not needed : Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, Speakers.

Thanks in advance :-)

for gaming GPU is much more important than CPU, personally Id get a Titan Xenomorph with win7 HP and the 768mb OcUK 460, comes in just under £700 and would spank the above for gaming
Yeah Im afraid a SSD is out at this budget, whilst nice they are still aluxury and wont really effect performance too much to be fair

95th is completely right, what you want is a good graphics card. You won't notice much of a performance increase for anything above an X3 at the moment, so I'd recommend an X4 Titan Krypt, no SSD, onboard sound (it's really good now, you don't need a sound card), 7 HP, and the best GPU you can afford- dropping down to an X4 from an i3 makes something like a 470 more in reach.
