I've been out of the loop with computer parts for a fair old while, so need a bit of help spec'ing a full build for my mother. She will simply be using it for Word Processing, emails and web browsing...nothing else really. I'd like something using pretty reliable parts, so no need for anything to be overclocked etc.

Budget is to ideally be under £600

What I need for this is:

Monitor (24-inch preferably),
Windows 7 Home Premium,
Full base unit (Case, PSU, CPU, MB, RAM, HDD, Optical drive, GFX card?)

I don't need a mouse or keyboard or any other peripherals.

Come up with the spec below:

It's for general web browsing, why are you speccing a 2100, and a 550w psu is just stupid the max this'll draw is under 50w. She won't need 8GB of RAM, but as it's a few quid more and way under budget..why not ey.

tell her it cost £600, get her a £25 mothers-day present and pocket the £100 ;)

This is the base spec i would go with. things to consider £12 more for the Pentium G620 is it worth the £12 more? yes. will you use the extra performance doing web/word/email? no! The chips have a gpu built in so no need to worry about a graphics card. if you do want to play some HD videos on it, maybe get a 6570 for £50 - otherwise leave it out.
