Spec My Mum A Car

My mums after a new car. So here is the requirements.

• She wants to spend a max of £4000
• Max Engine Size of 1.8 Pref Lower
• 5 Door Hackback
• At Least a 03 Plate

She is currently thinking of buying a 04 1.8 Mazda 6 Sakata for around £3500

So what are your suggestions?

PS:She doesn't like Mondeos

If shes looking at cars in the mondeo/Mazda 6 class, what's with the stupid engine size requirement? Get a mondeo 2.0

The 6 is a good choice given the requirements - I'd probably go with that.

The petrol Mazda engines are gutless I had a 2ltr and it was pony, the diesels are leaps and bounds better and my 2ltr d is very good. If she wants a smaller engine would a Focus sized car not suit her better?

Octavia? (beware of former taxis) Passat? (would be the 'old' Passat though), Primera, Lancer (bit smaller but masses of them around) or any number of Korean or worse models all available for less than 4k and 05 plates onwards.
