Hello gents,

Im currently looking to get a desktop which is some what of a monster but not breaking the bank Im really looking to see how little I can spend to get the results Im looking for. I want a gaming rig that will run games like Arma and DayZ SA, but also stuff like Skyrim etc, I use a laptop just now and its terrible I just want a good desktop thats going to run these games really well. Im hoping to be getting around 30 fps on high graphic settings. I need everything including monitor keyboard etc, but not an OS thanks very much guys look forward to seeing what magic you guys come up with!!!

Many thanks Marty

He has said spend as little as possible lol

I think ExRayTeds first spec is pretty close with the 6300 CPU and 270 GPU. That's the minimum I would consider for a midrange gaming setup. If you want to go cheap as possibubble it might be worth waiting on the Kaveri APUs for the FM2+ socket in January. Rock the IGP for a while and then add a GPU later perhaps.

You can drop the SSD to save some cash but they do make a world of difference. All the best with it bud we look forward to seeing what you settle on :)

Im really unsure if Im honest lads, Ive heard of 500 quid rigs being just as good as 5 grand rigs. Basically though is it possible to get the performance I desire with a £500 budget or will I be looking more around the £800-£1000 mark?

I think he means that the difference between a relatively inexpensive setup and a very expensive setup shows little difference in actual use (compared to brenchmark figures). IF that is what he means I would agree to a certain extent (there is always a good performance to cost ratio to achieve) although his example was a little extreme.

I think stu's build is very good although personally I would add a ssd as it is one of the single biggest upgrades you can do to a pc.

Thanks stu yeah well I seen a thread about a fella trying to choose between the 2 cards but I'm going to stick with the one u have recommended and possibly get another at a later date, I think the only thing I'm changing about ur build is a case mate apart from that I'm over the moon with it thanks very much for ur help pal have a merry Christmas buddy and a cracking new year and merry Christmas to everyone else helping me buy my first build.
