Hi,

A friend needs a system building. Will be used for gaming and general use. He has already bought a 8800GT (got one whilst he could ;)) so what he needs is everything - tower, monitor EXCEPT graphics card.

He has £450 to spend, please could you spec for me please?

I'll be clocking the heck out of it so cooler and good overclocking componenents please chaps

I don't think you'll be able to get much cheaper than fobose's spec, that cpu's a great clocker though, especially with that cooler. I seem to rememebr 3dgamerman saying in his review on it though that you need to fit a another fan inside the case to get a safe amount of airflow, so you might want ot bear that in mind :)

Unless you want to get a smaller monitor, which kinda defeats the point of getting a 8800GT - unless your friend bought a 256MB version which I would recommend getting a 19" WS.

I think he should cough up £32 more ;) He will regret getting a 19" after a few months. I wish I went for 24" now (got 2x 20" WS).

Aye i'm running a 19" (4:3) with mine, although like fobose was saying, I bet it'd perform just as well and look a lot better on a 20"+ widescreen

It is a shade over the budget but it includes a great cooler (if a bit of a sod to fit apparantly), a better motherboard for overclocking, a DVDRW and a keyboard/mouse combo. If you need an OS then I'm afraid your mate is a bit stuffed though. :)
