Hi there i'm looking to spend max 850 on a new pc, with everything except for monitor, keyboard and mouse. Any ideas? EDIT: I am going to use it mainly for gaming and multitasking

Many thanks,
Calum

Hi, thanks for the greeting.

I already own a copy of windows thanks and just at this moment have been given a 120gb maxtor hard drive that belonged to my friend - lucky me! tried it in my current pc and works fine so hd won't be necessary either. Just looking around the shop and thought would the opteron 170 processor be better than say a x2 3800 or even a 4400 (see my quickly drawn up spec below) - i'm really split between the 3 and am wondering would the extra cache do much toward system performance?

I've never overclocked a cpu before so would definitely consider it, and as the 170 is only clocked 200mhz below the 4400 i wouldn't think it would be too hard, that's partially why i thought the zalman cooler would help, would it be better getting a 3800 though, and spending the extra cash on a 1900xt?
