Spec Request - High Refresh 1440p

I'm looking for something high refresh for FPS gaming. Needs to have VRR support, preferably Gsync & Freesync both.

ASUS ROG Swift PG279QE looking ok as it's IPS 165Hz and on budget at around £575 - 675.

Having done various research, I'm really undecided whether I will go AMD or NV for my next card. With that in mind, I don't want to tie myself to Gsync again, so looking at the ASUS ROG Strix XG279Q - is the Gsync experience identical to the PG279QE?

I'm not sure what the difference is between Gsync & Gsync compatible?
