Hi
Need some advise please on a new pc for my daughter, case needs to be appealing to her. I would like a matx or mitx but am unsure of compaitable components and heat etc, really dont want to have to start modding case. I have speced components for an atx but would really appreciate some help in getting them in a smaller case.
It must run minecraft on 22" monitor as smooth as possible but dont want to spend too much money. It needs to last a good few of years through school before any major upgrades and am not sure to improve the cpu and reduce the spec of gfx card? or swap with intel (bit more expensive).
this is my current basket

forgot to say we are currently playing minecraft on the following all stock
intel haswell i5 4670
geforce gtx 560ti
8gb memory
samsung 20" sa300 monitor

need to get as close performance gfx wise as possible to this

The key to decent minecraft performance is making use of the mods.
Optifine will almost double your fps on certain hardware & allows better use of a CPU.

An intel CPU thrives overs a AMD one for minecraft performance as it's more powerful as a single core processor.

Working around your budget, however for minecraft this is super overkill and would handle BF4 Ultra!

24" Monitor
256GB SSD
Intel i5 Processor
Micro-ATX Case, very aesthetically pleasing
AMD 290 GPU
8GB RAM

For £150 I'd get the R9 280 (non x) instead but there is only little in it, I think the 280s extra VRAM wins it for me. Though that shouldn't matter at all at 1080p.

I will consider the R9 280 but I have no experience with radeon and am little concerned with potential install issues others have had. Dont want to get into NV vs R though.

I do need an OS but that is accounted for win 8.1.

Also is there much difference in games between 5ms and 2ms monitors these days?

The 760 over a 290 is a huge loss in performance, would be a silly choice to make. I would also prefer an AMD GPU for Minecraft as Nvidia can throw certain issues here and there. At best go for a 280X, but not a 760.

I'd rather the AOC at £10 cheaper too.
