Unbeleivably companies are now been allowed to trademark single words!

Unlike carlsberg with their "probably" which is limited to advertisement relating to beer, she savers is for any printed matter.

Was listening to a trademark lawyer yesterday on the radio and said this is just the start and there will be lots of other big companies filing for single words this year.

Personally I don't think that single or two or three word phrases should be allowed to be trademarked esp when it's just normal language.

If carlsberg can trademark probably then there really isnt an argument on whether companies can or not seeing as one currently is holding a single word trademark.

lol it's like those Fine Bros guys who tried to trademark the word "react" (teens react to, elders react to, adults react to, Youtubers react to etc).

It is a bit of a joke that they allow this sort of thing especially when certain phrases are already in common use by multiple people/companies all over youtube, facebook... to then take something in popular use and try to make it your own IP is a complete abuse of the system and really the reverse of how this ought to work.

Frankly I think both trademark and patents ought to have much stricter requirements than they currently have and they're so frequently abused these days.
