Well the box I threw together from my old bits for my Dad is starting to stutter (agp, ancient cpu, 1 GB ddr 400 ram). He's mainly just using it for some heavy internet use, 3 or 4 browsers open with auto updating content and streaming video etc. He's got dual monitors so I need dual DVI from a gfx card, otherwise I'd probably just get him one of those prebuilt Atom boxes if they don't stutter under multiple browser windows.
I might have a E2160 c2d cpu to use so leave the CPU out for the mo (haven't tested it to see if it's still working since I upgraded, should be though).
So I need mobo (c2d/pci for gfx), ram, SATA HDD and probably the cheapest gfx card that has dual dvi. Oh and a good small HSF for the CPU too.
OcUK doesn't seem to have much of a selection of matx mobo's though, or maybe I just can't see them. Any ideas other than my first pass through the OcUK shop?
OCZ Platinum Revision 2 XTC 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 Dual Channel Series £30
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4550 "Low Profile" 512MB GDDR3 £45 - any cheaper about?
Arctic Cooling Alpine 7 Pro CPU Cooler £10
Asus P5QPL-AM Intel G41 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £38
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache £37
Total - £150 (+£50 for CPU if my old one doesn't work)
The case I bought before was a silver Antec SFF case with it's own 300W PSU so hopefully I'll be able to reuse that. Otherwise a new SFF case and PSU will almost double the cost!
edit: oh just thought, the current cd drive must be IDE, and the PSU must have the old 4 pin power conntectors, so I'll need to get 2 4 pin to SATA power adpaters for the cd drive and HDD and a IDE to SATA cable adapter to plug the drive into the mobo.
