Spec Thread

Was wondering if some lovely fellow could spec me a rig for £750 inc VAT. and Vista. Don't need peripherals or screen. Mainly used for films/gaming - I was thinking C2D and 8800GT?

Not too much overclocking, so possibly stick with stock cooler unless you've got a stonker of a spec

I thought the fact that the 8800GT 512mb came close to GTX performance, and costed £100 less, would make it a more sensible choice. Need case and drives.

@billy: Would probably go for the 512mb GT, and was hoping more for 4GB of RAM or so.. processor is less important in this case, methinks.

I'd get the above, but I'd get a pc-7 (tbh i'd get a zen but hey), and spend the money saved on the 512mb version of that gpu.

and you could get the non-led version of the cpu cooler since you wont be able to see it anyway,

GTX is still a fair bit better tbh.

8800GT is a very good buy though

This is kind of similar but you get 4 Gb of ram, a 320 Gb hard drive and 512mb of memory on your 8800gt. On the down side it came in 64p over budget and I apologise.

Have picked a spec for my friend using a WD AAKS series HDD, a 512mb 8800GT, 4GB of PC-6400 and the Q6600 G0 stepping processor.
