[SPEC TIME] eBook Reader - £300 MAX

Only to add to the chorus of don't get an Ipad if you're after a reader :p
The ipad's screen is not any more suited to reading from than any other half decent laptop, and the battery will not last a fraction as long as a proper ereader would, nor be as readable.

The PRS600 might do, as might the KindleDX (although Amazon's antics with it's ebook store have put me right off them as an ebook supplier), if possible it might be worth waiting a few months as there are more models due I think.

I've just sold my Kindle DX and I'm going to be moving over to an iPad. Don't get me wrong the Kindle DX is a brilliant eBook and the screen is amazing if all you want to do is read standard books i.e. a novel.

What it is not so good at and one of the reasons I wanted it is when you want to read technical books, PDF's, magazines with pictures/diagrams.

If you take out magazine/newspaper subscription you don't get the images in the UK as you would if you were in the states(think this might be them saving cost in the transfer over the mobile networks).

Also when I transferred work documents over into PDF's to use on the Kindle DX, I found only about 30% of them would then be able to be used on the Kindle without error. Even when I used the automatic Amazon email convert functions.

But as stated at the beginning if it's a book reader solely that your after the screen and battery life is superb and you won't find a better eBook. But for me I found with the problems I experienced above that the Kindle was to limited. Though I don't doubt that when I get my iPad I'll be complaining about how hard the screen is to read compared to the Kindle.
