Ok well iv finally started ordering parts for my first build. So far i have on Pre-order a Lian-li PC-A70B, side wondow and dvd bezel. Samsung dvd drive and atric silver 5. Im waiting to see how the new nvidia cards do before i decide what gpu to go for.

I also allready have mouse, keyboard and speakers.

But im kinda confused about a few things.

1st, I want to be able to Overclock this rig and dont really understand what would be the best RAM to go for. I was planning on DDR3 but after reading a few things it looks like its a big waste of money at the moment.

2nd, How important is PCI-E 2.0? I understand its impossible to make a PC furtureproof but would a X38 Mobo be better than the older yet tried and tested P35 boards?

3rd, Iv read a little about OEM vista which im a little concered about. What would happen if i had to RMA my mobo for any reason?

My idea as follows:

Since this is my first look at building my own PC i would like some comments on where i could save money maybe or for parts that you would change. Also keyboard is for PS3 so ignore that. :p

1. Looks basically fine although I don't see a case in there unless I'm missing something obvious and 6 fans for the case might be a little bit over the top. The Ram should be ok although if it is like most Ballistix it is great when it works but can be a shade temperamental it seems.

2. Probably not that important but I suppose it depends how often you upgrade your graphics cards.

3. If you replace the motherboard with another of the same model I believe it should just work straight away.

iv got a lianli case on order which has 5 fans in it then im adding that front HD fan just for looks and a fan for the cpu cooler. iv heard that the stock fans are loud so i am willing to replace them all and i thought these white ones with a UV cathode would look cool!

your missing a GPU, would say 8800 GTS 512MB (G92) or so.. otherwise it looks nice, and mabye a bit too expensive, when you add the GPU/ case to that price

first i allready have a Lain-li case on pre-order all paid for and second im looking at the best performing ati or nvidia that will be out in say a month. so for the price is that the best HD to go for? or would it be worth adding a small raptor for OS and games?

The 7200.11s are very good hard drives, I don't think for the cost that Raptors are entirely worthwhile but if you have a fair bit of money and don't need lots of space they are very quick.
