I have a Dell Dimension 5000 ( OK thats my credibility out the window then :D )

Anyway spec is:
P4 3.0 Prescot
1GB PC4000 DDR RAM (256x4)
PCI-E Radeon X800GT
140GB SATA HD
160GB PATA HD
EMU 0404 Soundcard
2 x DVDRW Opticals

And not forgetting the crappy Dell mobo with its equally crappy bios ;)

I'd like to build a new system and reuse any items if possible.

Any ideas, I know I need a new mobo, CPU and PSU but can I reuse the other bits at all.

I actually used to be up on all this and overclocked allsorts using WC and even ran a couple of Vapochills at one point. Boy have things moved on now though, I feel like an OAP all of a sudden :D

It will depend how much you want to spend but it probably isn't worth keeping the Ram since both AM2 and Conroe(socket 775) both use DDR2. The graphics card, sound card, hard drives and optical drives should be fine(although most new motherboards only come with one IDE port) but you will probably also be better buying a new case as I think they sometimes use non-standard designs :)
