before I take the plunge & buy a new system based on Stulid Spec, Could you compare it with my current spec, and see if performance difference?

Reason changing are:
SLI isn't great on most games now only 1080p don't need it
Noise from the 600T Case is terrible cracking etc
2x 570GTX EVGA have terrible fan noises.
Getting old now (3.5 years old)
no 6Gb/s support
fancy something new

Current:
i7 Nelaham 2.9ghz
12GB DDR3 1600 Ram
ASUS OC Deluxe Palm edition
2x 570 GTX 2.5GB Edition
asus xonar STX --- transferring
1000w Cosair PSU
120GB m4 SDD
3TB HDD
640GB WD HD --- transferring
1TB Samsung --- transferring
cosair 600t case
nortuca cpu fan
win8

upgrading to
Intel i5 3570k 3.4Ghz
16GB DDR3 1600mhz
Gigabyte Z77x-D3H
Gigabyte 7970 X3 Windforce
Samsung 120GB SSD
2TB HDD
AlpenFohn CPu Cooler
Cosair 850W PSU
Fractel Design R4 XL
win8
£1200 (with ocuk building it)

Well, the new one will certainly be quieter, but I wouldn't expect to be blown away by the performance difference. The most noticeable improvement would be the SSD and you could add that to your existing rig.

So you do. Sorry missed that.

In that case I suspect you'll see very little performance increase. I've got a Crucial M4 running on a SATA 6Gb/s port, and another in my main rig at 3Gb/s. I honestly can't tell any difference.

i7 to i5 is not going to net you anything. and in some cases you will lose performance. (if you overclock your i7 to at least the same speed)

I would keep your current setup.

If you need to upgrade, get a decent cooler for your i7 and oc it to about 4.0ghz.

Doing the above will make any modern graphics card fly including the GTX 690. The same can not be said of an i5 in some circumstances like playing BF3.
